Foreigners
People think they can do whatever they want.  In the airport the other day, a guy took his shoes off and put his foot up on his knee, so that his sock-covered foot was ominously close to the face of the person sitting right next to him.  I know people in other cultures can't quite grasp the idea of personal space, but this is more than just space.  People in America have a general hatred of feet.  A good way to insult someone is to put your bare foot on them.  You'll always get a "Gross!"

I used to eat lunch with a guy who used to take a big bite of food and then just let the undesirable pieces fall out of his mouth and back onto his plate.  I had to try pretty hard not to throw up.  Maybe that was an acceptable thing to do in his homeland of Africa, but we don't do that here in America.  But it wasn't like having a big bite of spaghetti and letting some fall out of your mouth after you bite it in half.  It was like eating a salad and just pushing the romaine lettuce out of your mouth with your tongue, kind of like how a baby drools.  Or it's like eating meat and spitting out a piece of fat, but doing it in plain view. #sociology

Tradition
What's the deal with Jews?  They're the only group of people on earth whose nationality and religion have the same label.  I think it makes things unnecessarily confusing.  When most people say they're Jewish, it means that someone in their family tree was from the nation of Israel.  It usually has nothing to do with their religion.  The reason I say this is because I've never met a real Jew, meaning someone who practices the traditions and believes the theology of Judaism.  Every Jew I've met has a sub-par knowledge of the religion that changed the course of history and started Christianity.  They blindly follow traditions that have no meaning for them, other than to continue the tradition.  This brings me to my point:  Why do people follow traditions that mean nothing to them?  Is it to please their family?  Is it to appear reverential?  Is it just so the tradition doesn't get lost?  I'm not a big fan of traditions.  Historically, people have done some pretty dumb stuff.  Should we honor them by continuing to do that same dumb stuff?  Should I get my tongue stuck to an icy pole in the wintertime because it's tradition?  Should I go to the shore over the July 4th weekend because that's what my family did?  Should I get all my Christmas shopping done the day after Thanksgiving because that's how we've always done it?  I think that's dumb. #sociology

Major Minus
There's a guy where I work named Joe Minus.  He's a Major in the Army.  Thus his name is Major Minus.  Why do funny things happen? #sociology

Birthdays
It was on this day, 23 years ago, that I entered this world, screaming and crying, and probably trying to figure out a way to escape into the wilderness, where I really belong.  Heh.  I remember 2 years ago when I turned 21.  That's when I (stupidly) started drinking because I became legal.  [Note to self:  just because something's legal doesn't mean it's a good thing to do.]  Then there was the time Wendy gave me a travel journal when I turned 20.  Before that, I remember turning 17 and going to the DMV to get my driver's license.  I think the only other birthday I remember before that was when I turned 10 or 11 and my parents and sisters jumped out of the barn after I got home from baseball practice and surprised me and carried me on their shoulders and spanked me like 10 or 11 times.  That was a good one.  Ooh wait:  last year, I took the FE exam the day before my birthday, and so I was recovering on the actual day of my birthday.  I think when I turned 15, I worked at this place called Cerbo's Hampton Nursery all day and then went to Ian's house for some bad stuff. #sociology

Kang
Why are things in my little world so funny?  I met a Korean guy at Fort Benning today.  His name is Capt. Kang.  If you can say that without thinking of the obvious similarity to Captain Kangaroo (and laughing), you're better than me.  Also in the army is the idea that the average soldier is pretty dumb and can break anything.  Captain Kang said, "Joe will find a way to break it."  And another guy said something about a product being "joe-proof."  You can't make this stuff up! #sociology

Groups
I probably shouldn't complain, and I usually don't.  But I need to say a few things about a few groups of people that I have problems with.  For one, there's the ACLU.  What I can't stand about this group is that they are just a bunch of lawyers who take the side of the "victim" and bring about judgments that are just totally stupid.  There was that whole 10 Commandments thing at a court in Alabama (I think), there's the thing about taking "under God" out of the pledge of allegiance (it was actually added in the 1950s, read here), and there's all that stuff about gay marriage and making it constitutional.  I think the ACLU will lead to the downfall of this nation.

Another group I don't like is feminists.  I agree with the whole idea of equality and non-discrimination, but I think it's just gone too far.  In fact, it's gone so far that things today are the opposite of what they were 50 years ago.  But feminists are especially bad because they boycott the typical male:  macho, chauvinist, aggressive, abusive, inconsiderate, etc.  I agree with them on this.  These types of people should be boycotted.  The problem is that I'm grouped into this category because all males are grouped into this category.  See, I don't fit into this category.  I'm not macho; I'm not aggressive.  So I just think it sucks that a typical feminist would hate me just because I'm male, when there's really much more to me than just being a male.

This leads me to my final point which is an idea that I've been thinking about for several years now.  I want to start a group that fights for the rights of straight, white, Christian males.  Right now, we've got nothing.  We're the most discriminated-against, hated group of people in the world.  We're heterosexual, so all the gays and gay-supporters hate us.  We're white, so that means all the blacks and Hispanics hate us for taking their jobs.  We're Christians, so that means all lefty liberal atheists and other -ists hate us.  And we're male, so that means all females hate us.  You see why we need to start this group? #sociology
