I finally put together a sponsors page and added all the affiliates from the footer (and removed them from the footer). Now the text at the top of each page cycles through my whole list of affiliates/sponsors, even a few Google ones.
Edit: I got rid of it. It wasn't worth it. #technology

Video

Most, if not all, digital cameras these days have the ability to record video in addition to still pictures. I've always discounted this ability because of the poor resolution and high storage space requirements. But my sister completely changed my opinion. She constantly takes videos of random funny events that can't be captured with still pictures. This is one solution to the problem of pictures not being able to capture certain things. Cats running around the house. Children doing strange things and making unusual faces. Coke shooting out of a bottle after Mentos are added. These things can't really be captured with still pictures. Sure, your imagination can fill in the blanks, and your memory usually helps you fully picture the event. But some things are just better captured with video. Plus, videos capture sound, and some sounds need to be heard to be understood. I just recently moved my 1GB SD card from my Treo to my camera so I can take more videos. It's been working out great. I have quite a few videos of the cats doing weird things, a video of a wide open field in rural Virginia taken while driving, and a video of my 2-year-old nephew running like a 2-year-old. #entertainment

WordPress mobile (1)

I looked at my website on a mobile phone last night and I was appalled at its ugliness and lack of usability. So for now, I enabled Alex King's WordPress Mobile Edition plugin. If you're using a mobile phone to access my site, let me know what you think. If this doesn't work, maybe Google's mobile viewer, Skweezer, or Phonifier will.
Update (2007-02-08 10:51am): I disabled the plugin because most mobile phones have a choice between "optimized" and "wide page" modes. Optimized mode should display things nicely. #technology

Variety
|
Jan 11, 2007
|
Despite my hatred of new things, I need some variety in my life. If I eat the same thing or type of thing for lunch everyday, I quickly get sick of it and need to move onto something else. I think I'm sick of my frozen meals, which I originally switched to because I was sick of Subway, which I originally switched to because I was sick of Quizno's. I think the best way to do things would be to eat an entirely different meal every day of the week.
It's the same deal with a lot of things. I started using multiple deodorants in college when I kept noticing my current deodorant failing after a certain amount of time. It was almost like my body was getting used to the stuff, so the bacteria figured out a different way to produce a smell. I'd move onto a new deodorant for a while, notice the same problem, then move back to the old one. I currently alternate between 3 or 4 different deodorants, and they all work great.
Come to think of it, pretty much everything I've ever gotten sick of or tired of has happened because of overuse. There just wasn't enough variety. I eat pears instead of apples. I eat jelly rings candy instead of candy corn. I drink tea instead of coffee. I listen to hard rock instead of jam bands. I read less stuff instead of more. I'm enjoying my morning time with God instead of just reading the Bible. I shave because I got sick of facial hair. I shave my head because I got sick of hair. The list goes on.
Whenever I look at "grownups", I figure I'm supposed to be like them because I do all the same stuff as them and have all the same responsibilities. I'm supposed to get a routine and have a specific style and haircut and never change. I figured this would become easier after I got out of college, but it hasn't. Every few months, I need to change things around because I'm sick of the way they are. It's nothing major and most people probably don't notice, but I need to occasionally change things so they're not old. #psychology
