C'mon, people. I'm noticing that there are still a few people out there who don't quite get it. Here's the deal: When you're in a room/building/place where having your cell phone ring would be a rude interruption, turn the volume down. I understand if you forgot to turn it down before you entered the room. Not a big deal. We all forget some things. But if you didn't turn it down beforehand, put in a good effort at silencing it when someone calls. Yeah sure you disrupted the meeting and made everyone stare at you. Sure you broke everyone's concentration as you rifled through your pockets or your purse. The least you could do is silence it or turn it off as fast as you can. Put in a little effort.

Now, for those people that didn't know about this before, cell phones have a startup and shutdown noise. Usually they play a stupid little song or make some weird noises. Every cell phone on earth does this. It's nothing new, and it's nothing out of the ordinary. Since we all know this, maybe you could also put a little effort into turning your phone's volume off before you shut it town in said room/building/place. As if the phone call wasn't a big enough interruption, now everyone has to listen to your stupid shutdown noise. #technology

	Ohh my i so aggree with you on this..... I think most of em do it to put attention to them..... to say "hey, check out my new phone", or "check out my new ring tone"

	My favorite is people in the library who leave their phones on. I agree, sometimes you just forget to put it on vibrate or turn down the volume, and thats ok if you do your best to silence it quickly. These people don't do that. Not only are they in a library with their volume on high, they are in no hurry to get their phone out of their purse/wherever, and then once its out, do they silence it or answer it? No, they hold the ringing phone for like 10 seconds looking at the caller ID and seeing if they want to answer it. I'm not even going to start on the people whose conversations make it plain that they were expecting the call and waiting for it in the library. Hey you! On the phone! I'm really glad your daughter is getting married, and I understand that you need to arrange things with the caterer, but could you not do it two feet away from me while I try to read? Thanks ever so much!. (Maybe I should start a blog too; that was kind of cathartic.)

	Heather, I've found that people usually test out their ring tones in airports. That seems to be the best place to do it. Rich, I couldn't agree with you more. Holding a ringing phone is the stupidest thing any human being can possibly do. Here's a very complicated "hack" I invented: When someone calls your cell phone, press one of the volume buttons (usually on the side of the phone). This usually turns the ringer off for the duration of the incoming call.

	I found the same "hack" because I ussually end up mashing the side buttons when I go for my phone anyway. I always get a kick out of it when the person holding the ringing phone has the same model as me. I wonder how they managed to avoid accidentally muting it, since the volume control is right there.
