My sister Stacy found this sign in the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. "Elevators to Teminal". Not to be racist, but that's what you get for overseas outsourcing.
How do you know that this was outsourced? From previous articles I have read, airports usually look for IT outsourcing, not sign outsourcing.
I think spelling mistakes sometimes happen; even here! For example: Nome, Alaska was named due to a spelling mishap. In the 1850's an officer on a British ship off the coast of Alaska noted on a manuscript map that a nearby prominent point was not identified. He wrote "? Name" next to the point. When the map was recopied, another draftsman thought that the ? was a C and that the a in "Name" was an o, and thus a map-maker in the British Admiralty christened "Cape Nome.
Excellent point, Kripa. And you backed it up. Well done.
You're most likely right. That sign was probably made in Sussex County, New Jersey by a bunch of lazy white Americans (seriously). At least foreign people can follow directions.
Since I dont really work - I did some investigating and found that this sign was probably made at a local Washington design firm I guessed that the sign in question was in the Parking garage.
If the signs are originals we have the following facts: The airport was built in 1944 when we weren't too friendly with many foreign nations.
The parking garage was most likely added between 1967 and 1973 according to WIKI
