Des Plaines (2)

There's a town just north of Chicago O'Hare International Airport. It's called Des Plaines. I'm assuming it's pronounced something like Des Moines, Iowa, which is "Da Moyn". So this city would be "Da Plain" or, to complete this joke, "Da Plane". (Airport ... plane. C'mon people, keep up.) #travel

Sorry to rain on your parade, but Des Plaines is pronounced just like it looks, unfortunately.
But if it makes you feel better, Des Moines is a city in Iowa, and Des Moines County is a county in Iowa, but is Des Moines in Des Moines County? Nope, opposite sides of the damn state. What is up with that?
Did you fly/to through Chicago lately?

In that case, since I'm already wrong, I'll take my joke a step further and call the city "Dee Plane", as an obvious and overused reference to 80s TV hit Fantasy Island.
