Apparently one of the semi-standard add-ons for VW Beetles is flower rims:

I couldn't resist commenting on the VW since it was my first car in 1970, although I had a convertible. I agree - the flower rims are cute! Also, your cousin Jeff used to call my car the "Betsy car".

Mom, I think you should get a new yellow convertible bug. Maybe paint some flames on the side.

Dave, I think your mom needs to get one too! I saw one the other day in day-glo green, if that's a color, and it was pretty cool! Our family STILL calls all VW's "The Betsy Car"!
