Moment of driving clarity Jan 3, 2006
I had a moment of clarity while driving to work this morning.  I was stuck behind someone who was going about 25 mph.  Sure the roads were bad because it was snowing, but I don't think there's much of a difference between going 30 and going 25.  I wanted to go 30.  But then I was thinking and came to the conclusion that perhaps this person was driving slowly in front of me for a reason.  Maybe it's to keep me safe.  Maybe it's so I don't get another speeding ticket.  Maybe the road will suddenly blow up in front of this person and will engulf their car in a fiery ball of mayhem, leaving my car untouched.  Whatever the reason, maybe God has a plan.  I have to remember that more often. 

I came to this realization a few times in the past.  As I'm driving behind someone who's going slower than I'd like, I think about passing them over the double yellow lines.  But then I think, Maybe there's a cop up ahead just waiting to give me a ticket.  Maybe there's a reason why I'm stuck in unfavorable situations. #religion

Galerie is an extremely simple PHP script that I wrote about a while ago.  It's a single file that generates thumbnails.  That's pretty much it.  It's useful if you want something that's extremely stripped down.

Gallery is huge.  Unbelievably huge.  I tried it and was overwhelmed by its vast array of functions and settings.  It's great if you want something with all the bells and whistles.  It's not good if you're into things like Galerie.

Zenphoto is the image gallery program/script I've been using on my website for the past several months.  It's got a nice user interface, it's very simple to use, and there's not much to it.  One of the things I like is that I'm able to edit how it works and looks.

Plogger is pretty cool.  It's similar to zenphoto except that it's much more complicated.  Complicated can be a good thing if you want your photo gallery to do lots of stuff, like commenting (though zenphoto does this), RSS feeds, and packaging downloads.  I personally want something simple.

BirdMan is a company that makes wingsuits and other bird-like (or perhaps sugar glider-like) outfits that enable a person to fly through the air after jumping out of a plane or off a high cliff.  The videos are amazing. #technology

There's this guy in Ireland who invented a thing called a SidewaysBike that "is ridden sideways and is balanced by using human Front to Back balance. This bicycle uses Front and Rear steering."  It's kind of like a cross between a bike and a snowboard/skateboard.  Weird. #technology
