Sport Beans are really good. I've had them a few times, and they taste pretty similar to Shot Bloks, but with a harder (sugary) outer coating. It feels weird eating candy that's supposed to be somewhat good for you, but I think I observed a positive effect on my energy. Whatever works. Anything's better than those stupid energy bars.

Jelly belly also makes sport beans that are pretty good. I don't know about for hiking, but I'm running the Columbus Marathon on Sunday and I used those sport beans for the 20 miler I did a few weeks ago and they are awesome. I just thought I'd pass that along. I have some of those Cliff Shot Bloks, but have never tried them. Maybe I'll give them a whirl this week and see how they are on my stomach and use them during the race too.
